- 1 kg quinces
- 500 g sugar
- 1 l water
- 1 lemon, juiced
- Wash the quinces thoroughly and cut them into quarters.
- In a large pot, add the quinces and water. Bring to a boil and simmer until soft.
- Remove from heat and strain the liquid, collecting the juice.
- Add the juice back to the pot, add sugar and lemon juice, and stir well.
- Simmer until the mixture thickens (about 30-40 minutes), stirring frequently.
- Pour the mixture into sterilized jars and seal.
Notes
- Let the Quittenbrot set for a few days before consuming for optimal flavor.
- This recipe is great for enjoying with cheese or on toast.
