- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 cup chopped nuts (e.g., almonds or walnuts)
- 1/2 cup candied orange peel
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and spices.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light.
- Add honey and egg to the butter mixture, blending well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Fold in the nuts and candied orange peel.
- Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll the dough out and cut into shapes.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Let cool and decorate as desired.
