- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 egg
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup green and red sprinkles (for decoration)
- In a small bowl, warm the milk until it’s lukewarm. Add the yeast and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and melted butter.
- Add the yeast mixture and egg to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into equal pieces.
- Shape the pieces into triangles and arrange them in a Christmas tree shape on a baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool and decorate with sprinkles.
Notes
- Best served warm with butter.
- You can also fill the bread with chocolate or jam if desired.
